The US Forest Service has ordered the Louisiana Office of Forestry to redo the state's Forest Inventory under USFS supervision, after numerous and pervasive irregularities were found in the state's conduct of this key assessment tool.

Over 85,000 Acres Logged in Louisiana

La. Dept. of Environmental Quality has stated publicly that over 85,000 acres of cypress have been logged in Louisiana in the last few years. This has happened in the absence of any coordinated mapping or assessment of private tracts.
